Get ready for VeriFactu before it becomes mandatory
Electronic invoicing will become mandatory in Spain. UTILIA OS already complies with VeriFactu and is preparing business-to-business electronic invoicing.
What is VeriFactu and why it affects you
Chained cryptographic hash
Each invoice generates a unique digital fingerprint linked to the previous one. Impossible to alter a record without breaking the entire chain.
Tax Agency registration
Every invoice is submitted to the Spanish Tax Agency through a queue, with automatic retries if the submission fails.
Verifiable QR code
Each invoice includes a QR code that allows instant authenticity verification.
How UTILIA OS complies
It's not a patch or an add-on module. Regulatory compliance is built into the core of the invoicing system.
On business-to-business electronic invoicing under the Crea y Crece Law: today we generate Facturae and UBL, which is what the law requires you to issue.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Starting July 2027, all freelancers using invoicing software will need to use a VeriFactu-compatible program.
Spreadsheets cannot meet VeriFactu requirements (chained hash, immutable ledger, AEAT submission). If you invoice with Excel, you'll need to migrate to compatible software.
If you use software that doesn't comply with regulations after the established deadlines, you face fines of up to 50,000 euros per fiscal year.
VeriFactu is not certified: each vendor issues a responsible declaration stating that its system complies with the regulation. What you can check is how it works: the system generates the fingerprint, chains the records, prints the QR code and submits to the Spanish Tax Agency. Whoever administers the VeriFactu configuration can also download the responsible declaration.
